In front of wood stove keeping warm.
I have a 5 year old Leghorn hen. Last week she started looking unwell by pulling her head into her shoulders, tail down and comb falling over. On Sunday I found her laying on her side in the snow. She does not appear to be injured. I brought her in the house and have been trying to hydrate and tempt her with cat food mixed with her normal crumble. She will stand but only for a few seconds and then just settles down to the floor or falls over. She will eat and drink if I put it directly in front of her. She doesnt appear in distress, no breathing difficulties and her poop looks normal. I percieve that she might have improved a bit over the last few days but that may just be optimistic thinking. Any suggestions or comments on what might be going on or am i taking appropriate measures?

To me it does not sound like she is dealing with an infectious problem. More likely age and five years of production are catching up with her. I would keep her warm, non stressed and provide electrolytes and feed - hoping for the best but realizing that she may be nearing the end of her life.
