Yesterday evening my hen laid an egg and there was basically a big puddle of watery fluid that came out with the egg. It was clear fluid; didn't smell bad or anything. This morning she is not very active and didn't run out of the coop for treats with the others. She is just standing in the coop not eating, just drinking water.

Any suggestions?

Was the clear liquid thin or was is looking like albumen (the clear part of the egg?) When chickens lay eggs, they secrete a clear coating of bloom that helps to preserve the egg longer. The egg will look wet for a couple of minutes until it dries. Perhaps that is what you saw? I would watch her closely to make sure that she is eating and drinking, and check her crop, check her for lice and mites, look at her vent, and watch her droppings, which are the usual things to look at for illness. How old is she? Has she had any egg laying problems such as broken eggs or shell-less eggs?

There was a puddle of thin liquid all over the nesting materials and there was a thicker blob on the egg that looked like egg white. She is drinking but not eating & her crop is full of water. Everything else looks normal. She won't leave the coop. I am going to try giving her a boiled egg & see if she will eat it out of my hand.
