Hey everyone, I posted a question about a sick hen and I have t heard anything yet and I'm still lost. She's lost a lot of weight even though she still has a healthy appetite. She has brown liquid that comes out of her beak whenever she outs her head down to eat. I've treated for sour crop for 3 or 4 days now if that's what it was I thought it'd be better by now. Has anyone ever seen this before??

I'm sorry your hen is sick.

Can you describe the fluid. Does it have a foul odor? Is her cropbfull, hard, swollen? How long has this been going on?

Fluid is brown or darkish tan. Usually comes up after she's eaten a lot, puts her head down to eat or drink sometimes or if I pick her up either too fast or accidentally squish her abdomen or crop. Its been going of for about a week? I've been treating her for sour crop even though there's no foul odor. I figure the 'yeast cream' wont hurt her and the yogurt has lots of protien for her. She did have some fluid come up that got on me and there was no smell. I've been reading a lot about ascites. The bloating in her belly seems to have gone down, her comb and face are red in color, she's got quite the appetite and still seems alert but I'm noticing she's starting to stumble. Becasue of the weight loss i have given her more fatty carby foods mixed with the yogurt and cream to try and get her to gain some weight but it doesn't seem to be working. She doesn't walk like a penguin like they describe with water belly. Part of me says to let her go so she's not miserable but part of me wants to see if I can learn more to try and save her.
