Sick hen

I'm not sure what's going on with my girl. She has been like this for over a week now. We have her inside away from the others. She doesn't get up high. She likes to lay in the box at night and for some strange reason she has taken a liking to sitting in her food dish. We have electrolytes in her water. I have plan yogurt down for her. We dipped her last week because she had some mites(been checking regularly since the dip and no new ones). She pecks at food here and there. Gave her a piece of bone with meat on it and she eats more of that than her food right now. She doesn't feel like she is egg bound and not water belly (we have lost a few from that)

Update: Her crop was like a golf ball when i first posted the upper section of this post on the Facebook group. It is no longer hard and has gone down in size. She isn't sitting on the food dish anymore. She isn't eating or drinking on her own that I know of. Doesn't have much strength to stand up. She kinda falls forward. I've been giving her 1ml syringe of kefir morning and evening and also 2ml of water that has "Hen Boost" (a blend of pedophilia, digestive enzymes, vitamins. Minerals & electrolytes for adult poultry) ½ crushed aspirin for any pain she might be in, and corid in it in case she had coccidiosis. She is sleeping alot. We have her in a quiet area by herself inside out of the cold and weather. If anyone can help, please, we don't want to lose our splish splash.

Pictures aren’t showing up. Don’t give vitamins with Corid it defeats the purpose. Corid inhibits absorption of vitamin B, which is what cocci thrive on. So giving vitamin B makes Corid ineffective.

Did you deworm her at all? Crop blockages are often caused by worms in the digestive tract somewhere.

I haven't seen any worms in her poop. She is the only one like this. All the others are fine. I just gave her fresh water with Corid in it but no hen boost this time to avoid vitamin B. Going to see how she is after doing this for a couple days. Hoping she will have some improvement.

I wouldn't do electrolytes for more than 1/2 a day. And correct, no vitamin B1 (thiamine) while on Corid.

Generally, if one's got coccidiosis, the rest do too, same with mites. Since you're treating her with Corid, I'd treat them too, though I'm not 100% that that's what this is. Better to be safe though, so I'd continue the Corid, 1 teaspoon liquid per quart of water.

Since she's pooping, and has been like this for a week, it's unlikely she's egg-bound. Do they have oyster shell? Just in case, you could give her a calcium pill or break a Tums up. 300 mg of Calcium Citrate with D3 is the best if you have that. I doubt that's the problem, but again, better to be safe.

Mites can take a chicken down, but she should be improving since you've removed them.

If it's coccidiosis, she should start improving pretty fast. Keep us updated. I hope she pulls through!
