Our new batch of chicks are about 4 weeks old. One of them (a darling little polish) is having some problems. About a week after we got them home she had a lot of white stuff coming out of her bottom. I researched and thought she had a yeast type problem. I separated her from the other girls, gave her yogurt 2x a day and probotics in her food. After a week she was better. No more white stuff, starting to get feathers on her bottom again. Now it's been a week and the other girls are pecking at her bottom constantly. She also looks like she's trying to poop all the the time (throbbing). We separated her out again. Her bottom is really red and swollen. Of course she is stressed out to be separated from the other girls, but I think they are really hurting her.
Any ideas? I'm open to trying anything.

Thank you,
M

Is she able to poop? No indication of pasty butt? Any indication of a small prolapse? If vent is swollen you could try using sugar or prep H on vent this often will shrink swollen tissue. Keep her separated until vent is back to normal, otherwise you will have pecking/picking from other birds and often with dire consequences.

Make sure she is eating.drinking.

She's pooping okay. It's been looking a little runny. I have her separated right now. She does look a little better. I started putting some prep H on her vent. I also soaked her in Epsom salt for a little while last night. I hope she pulls through this okay. She's such a cutie.

Make sure she is eating/drinking. Keep her warm and give lots of TLC.

Hope your wee girl feels better soon!
