Hi there,
My husband picked up our Mallard today because she had some feathers stuck on her nose. And he noticed some blood and discoloring on her beak. He’s worried she may have some serious infection or something, I’m trying not to freak out until it’s necessary. We have 4 other ducks & 3 chickens who all seem and appear healthy. Along with our Mallards nose my husband said he just saw her poop and it’s runny like diarrhea. I’ve been on google but I’m not sure where to start. I’m attaching some pictures that I took today, please let me know your opinions and what we should do, we don’t want to lose her or any of our flock!
Thank you in advance!

He's very cute. Do you happen to have a rooster? We are rolling into spring and a normally gentle rooster can get a bit aggressive. We had a rooster that attacked one of our female ducks pretty severely. She had deep peck lacerations all over her head and beak and elsewhere, the outcome was not good....

Thank you, it’s actually a girl. We do have a rooster as well as a male duck. Our rooster is pretty docile with all of our flock. Our male Muscovy on the other hand can be pretty rough. But she doesn’t have any other injuries and my husband thinks it looks like more of an infection although neither of us really know what we are looking at.

The male ducks can be pretty awful. It could be infection but bloody discharge around nose is unusual. Definitely keep her separated and warm, some electrolytes and probiotics could help as well as any other suggestions from BYC but you may want to her to see a vet if she doesn't improve asap.

Do you think she could have been injured? That might cause bruising and blood from the bill possibly. I am not familiar with ducks, but will tag @Miss Lydia.
It is possible. Our male Muscovy mates with all the females in our flock and he his quite rough is she is very small compared to him. Honestly I would feel much better if it was an injury and not an illness! We are making a dog crate up for her now & moving her into the garage tonight with heat. It is very cold outside and we are reading an article on caring for sick ducks!
