Hi y'all. I have a flock of RIRs 2 and 3 years old. On Saturday, I let them out of their coop to forage like they normally do but one of the hens wouldn't leave. She was still sitting on one of the low roosts. I picked her up and set her down outside but she wouldn't walk and she just didn't look right. I noticed that her backside was all poopy. I put her back on the roost and then went to the store to get some yogurt as I have heard that's a good thing to give to hens with diarrhea. When I got back, I went back to the coop to offer her some yogurt. She had no interest in so I gently dipped her beak in it, but as I did, she vomited a thin brownish liquid. I then went to give her some water and the same thing happened--wouldn't drink, I dipped her beak and she vomited again. I put her back on the roost and the next morning she was dead. Now I'm wondering if it was something that was contagious and if my other hens will get sick. I have nine other hens and one of the others also has a poopy butt. I started giving her some yogurt which she loves, and she doesn't seem "sick". Anything else I can be doing? Thanks.
