Sick or just Young?

I bought 7 new chicks yesterday, 3 turkey poults and 4 ducklings. I was watching them both yesterday and today and noticed that many of the chicks still had their egg tooth yesterday. They werent very energetic, didnt really eat, and they slept a lot. I was a bit worried about them but I decided to just wait it out. I came out in the morning and noticed that all of them had lost their egg tooth, eating, and running around..except for one. A little Turkey poult who still had their egg tooth. They wouldn't eat and Sleep a lot, much more than the others. I hatch my own chicks but because of a Mental illness I have, I tend to forget what its like. When we first got them, That same chick was a tiny bit wet still, Like chicks are when they're almost dry from hatching but not quite. Is He sick or just VERY recently hatched?

Sounds like he's slightly younger.
They sleep a lot -they're babies.
Give him a bit more time and see how he does. They don't always seem to want to eat in the first couple of days.

Agreed. Sounds like a normal little baby. You can use your finger to "peck" at the food and encourage it to eat if you want to but it sounds like it's doing ok.

Good responses, they do sleep a lot and they are absorbing the yolk for the first couple days so really don’t need to eat. They will soon change.
