We have a peacock that just stopped walking. He just lays there, he's eating and drinking but not as much as before. Was told to look for Tylan or Penicillin and all I found was the injectable penicillin, I've been reading and reading and can't for the life of me find out the dosage for it. Can someone help me please???? I need to know how much to inject and how ofter. He's about 6lbs and I don't know how old he is, he was found by a friend in a field (3years ago) and since we live on a horse property, we took him while we found the owner and never did. Thank you in advance for any help.

I suggestd vet because peafowl fade fast and drugs like Tylan and penicillin are unlikely to help. A vet will be able to check poop for bacteria, protozoa, yeast, and worms, and a vet will have drugs to treat all of those.

Once peafowl aren't walking they are usually 1-4 days away from death.

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Sorry for the reason though. Hope your Peacock recovers. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
