I have a weak pullet. I had a younger roo chick (5 weeks) with the same symptoms but he died last night.
I first noticed the pullet lying over on her side and took her in and force fed her some sofented pellets in sweet acidopholus milk. I also made her drink. She perked up and I put out with the rest of the birds in the tractor (3 are 5 weeks and 4 are 9 weeks). When I put the birds up after they had been out in the tractor all day I noticed that the little roo had an empty crop and so did the hen. I put more food out in the house so that they could have something to eat and went up to research the problem. When I checked on them about 3 hours later the roo was dead. I pulled the pullet out and brought her inside and force fed her again. After which she voluntarily drank water and pooped though it was rather dry.
Today I put them out and I was going to be outside so I was letting Raven (the sick pullet) roam about outside the tractor where I was working. She strolled around eating clover. I had to go inside for a little bit so I scooped her up and put her in with the rest. When I came out she was frozen in place unmoving. No one was picking on her that I could see but she was totally still. As soon as I took her out she began moving around eating clover again. Could it be that one of the others (like the big red roo) has terrorized her and stressed her to the point she will not eat or drink while with them?
She is drinking better tonight as long as I am near her or holding her. I am hoping to get her to eat some more with out having to resort to prying her bill open and stuffing it down her throat again.
