Sick Rhode Island, 2yr old

My 2 year old hen has not been her usually perky self for a few days. Last night I noticed a long thin strip of something hanging out of her butt. Sounds nasty I know. It kind off looking like small empy sausage casing???!! I was able to pull some of it out with causing her distress. She then had a loose bowel movement. I have no idea what this could be. If anyone has any suggestions please post. Thanks from Jo (the chicken) and I.

Thanks for the info. It kind of looked like that only without anything inside the skin. I wonder if tape worms shed their skin like snakes? Will pick up some of the medication listed in the link you sent me. Do you know if I need to treat all the hen? I only have 10 right now so not too big a deal.

I believe you need to treat them all. If one is infected there is a chance others are as well. Good luck to you
