My rooster lost his foot a few weeks ago. He was doing well. Had been on Albon. Got diarrhea and I took him off of it. Has had very watery loose droppings for 2 1/2 days now. Does not move. Makes absolutely no noise. No cock-a-doodle-doo or clucks or a peep. I am at my wits end. I am giving him homemade electrolyte solution... as he will not eat. He does drink it though, and a lot. Help????

I think you need to back up and give us more info---- lost his foot? Can you give more detail on this? Why was he on albon?
How old is this bird? Not moving and not eating does not sound good- can you bring him to a vet to help you figure out what is wrong? If he lost a foot to a predator- it may be a combination of pain and infection that is making him ill.

Thanks for your posts... but I'm pretty sure it is his crop. Started reading on it and he all the signs. Held him upside down and massaged the crop and he vomited fluid and sunflower seeds. He has been healing from the foot very well... he had severe frostbite in February and the foot died so to speak. It "fell off" at the vets office. He's been doing really well with that but I was giving him Albon (an antibiotic for possible infection) that the vet gave him and I put it on the seeds so he'd eat it. It worked but now he has this bound crop. My daughter is a vet assistant and works at a local vets. They know diddly about chickens but with everything I've learned, I'm pretty sure we can treat him now. I hope so. He is my baby... just two years old.

Awwww - I hope he'll be okay. That upside down thing can be tricky - they can die. They are lots of threads here on BYC re: how to handle crop problems. Luckily, I haven't run into this problem myself but have read lots of accounts on this site accompanied by lots of helpful responses. Do a search here under 'impacted crop'. All the best.

Thanks for the help. He did die. I guess I discovered the problem a bit too late. I am heartbroken. He was my beautiful baby. I do miss him.
