I went out to do my coop chores this morning and noticed one of my roosters had a clear liquid pouring from his beak each time he brought his head down to eat. I've since brought him inside to monitor his droppings and sure enough, they don't look good.

I checked his crop as soon as I saw the fluid leaking from his beak and it's not full. I did not notice any smell either. I'm wondering if this may be a blockage further down or something else. He's had no change in attitude or energy as of right now. He's a little over 3 months with no other past issues. I keep emergency electrolytes and probiotics on hand. Can anyone help?

Re-check his crop first thing in the morning before he eats/drinks, it should be empty/flat.

Thank you for the link. His crop was under half full this morning, but did seem squishy as sour crop is described. Since I still haven't noticed any smell yet, I decided to try massaging it for a little while and see if that made any difference to start. I've just checked on him again now and it has gone down completely. I'm going to continue to keep an eye on him and see if this persists.

Re-check it first thing in the morning, if it's got anything in there, I would go ahead and treat for sour crop even if you don't smell anything. Once you can detect an odor, then it can be harder to resolve.
