Sick silkie with snotty nostrils UPDATED WITH PHOTOS

Our new partridge silkie pullet Artemis (hatched in early Sept.) is ill. I bought her from a lady in Colorado from this forum that said she wasn't sick before she sent the hen and that she also didn't notice her crooked under bite (yeah right!). Artemis was extremely dehydrated when she got here and had trouble keeping her balance. She has been here since Wednesday 11/25/2009 and has started acting normally since then - minus the creamy mucus coming from her nostrils. She is in quarantine and I will not let her with our other chickens until she is normal. I'm not sure what to do with her

Can you take a chicken to the vet? Should I take her to the vet?

Im so sorry, if i were you i think i would take her to the vet if u can afford it.

Give her Electrolytes in her water and some ACV (apple Cider Vinegar) Keep her warm and Quaretined until she is well. check and see if the vet in your area will see a chicken, most won't.

if you can post pics, sometimes that helps people reading the forums identify the problem.

Give us the following information. The more you tell us, the better we will be able to help you.

1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation?
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use

Oops. I didn't know I was not supposed to post health issues here. Sorry.

I will, however, answer the 10 questions and post a picture:

1) Pullet silkie partridge; <1 lb; 3 months old.
2) Her behavior is mostly like a normal chicken, but she does tend to lose her balance and shake her head. I've also noticed that she has food in her mouth, like sort of just staying there.
3) I don't see any sign of trauma, but her beak does have a crooked under bite off to the right.
4) She was shipped to me from Colorado and the post office didn't get her here in the one day that they promised - it took nearly 2 (grr!)
5) She is eating a lot of chick start and drinking a lot of water.
6) Her poo is normal looking, but I have noticed that she hasn't produced a whole lot like my other chicks did. I checked to see if there was a blockage, but it seemed to be clear.
7) I have put her under a heat lamp, provided soy yogurt, clean/fresh water, and food. I will add electrolyte to her water tomorrow.
8) I would like to treat her myself to save $$$, but will take her to the vet if what I try doesn't seem to heal her (we have one that will see chickens)

10) She is being kept in a draft-free area with shavings, food, water, & heat-lamp. The bin is moderately sized with room for her to scratch around.

She also smells really nasty. I've also been cleaning the crud off of her beak 2x per day -poor girl
