Saturday it was extremely hot and humid. I went out to check my chickens and one was stumbling around and unable to maintain her balance. I grabbed her and brought her inside. Thought she was was overheated. She eats anything in front of her. She will not drink water though. I have syringed some in her. Her poop is healthy and not even runny. She hasn't laid an egg. Ive tried giving tums. I do feel an egg but it's far inside of her. Her vent is clean. I have been soaking her several times a day in Epsom salt water. She is inside the house in a tote with wood shavings. Her belly is not distended. She has a healthy crop. I am not sure where to go from here. He comb turns slightly purple on the tips then goes back to vibrant red. And ideas? She is a favorite. Please help me fix butters :)

I would get the TUMS into her. Break it into a couple of pieces. Pull down on her wattles to open the beak, pop a piece into the beak and let her swallow. Repeat until the TUMS is gone.

I would suspect she's having a hard time expelling an egg. I wouldn't feel for it again.

She's pooping right?

Do try to entice her to stay hydrated. Sugar water or electrolytes would be good. If she's not willing to drink, then offer wet soupy feed if she's will to eat.

If possible, get some Calcium Citrate with D3 and give her 1 tablet daily for a week. If not, then just give her a TUMS daily.

She is pooping. Do you know where I can find the calcium citrate? Thank you so much!

She laid an egg with no shell. Already drinking water again now but still can't stand properly. Could she be backed up on eggs and it could take a couple days for her balance to come back?

You can find Calcium Citrate with D3 at stores like Walmart, CVS, etc. on the vitamin/supplement aisle.

It's good that she was able to expel the shell-less egg. Yes, she may have another egg (or two) on the way, so getting the extra Calcium into her may help her contractions to push the egg(s) or material on out.

Sometimes if an egg is pressing on a nerve, it can cause them to have a hard time standing. Hopefully once she gets past this, the balance issue will resolve too.
