Side-by-side nesting boxes?

Quick question....when building a coop; do the nesting boxes have to be side-by-side?

You just want to make sure they are big enough for your birds, easy for them to get in and out of, and easy to clean. Otherwise you can design them however you like.

No, not really....but it's usually more efficient to build them that way.
It would also make them 'all the same' as far as location and exposure to light, air flow, etc...thus less likely to have a 'favorite' nest in a certain location.

Minimum 12 x 12 x 12".
I like 14 x 14 x 16".
Did you know chickens stand up when the egg actually emerges?
So that extra height is good.
