You can get Ozzie a basket muzzle so he can't really hurt your new dog and take them for long walks. You will have good control since they will both be leashed.

JRTs are tough, even mixed with a beagle!

Did you introduce the dogs at the rescue to be sure the dogs got along? Did they get along there?

Did the dogs meet on neutral ground, or did you bring the new dog into the older dog's territory?

The behviorist said Ozzie's aggression is very deep rooted, and that it may improve with training, so off we go...............they were here about an hour and a half assesing him

Sometimes it helps to introduce them on neutral ground. Like a park or someplace off of your property. That way neither dog has property to protect and they can get to know each other.
I hope it works out for you. Is Ozzie being protective or dog aggressive? How did you introduce him to your other dog?
