Sounds like a great idea for other members who want more birds. I would love more, but I'm already in stealth mode with the 5 chickens because I live in a city neighborhood. Sunny is virtually quiet thankfully. 1/3 of an acrea seemed big for 5 three week old chicks but now they can run to the other end in 5 seconds being 10 weeks old!

All I can say is, good for you for saying something. Now, maybe, like you say, she won't ever get some defenseless animal again.

True, 1lpoock, that's how it should be, but it's not. You can't cure stupid, but you can help the victims of it.

I posted an ad on craigslist in the wanted section titled "wanted, Easter chicks & ducks" Last week I picked up a pair of khaki campbells that were given to a little boy for Easter. The grandmother emailed me and said she couldn't keep the ducks because they lived in an apartment. Her co-workers had told her to 'let them go in the park' but she checked craigslist instead. She even gave me the bag of layer feed TSC sold with the ducks. They were smaller then my 1 week old khaki campbell! Layer feed...for ducks!

They're doing great now though! Very happy and healthy. I encourage everyone to post a wanted ad on craigslist....even if we only act as the middleman to find them new homes. It's much better then death by starvation or worse.

PetDuckBoy, I'm glad you told her what happened to those babies! I hope she feels just awful about it!

Great idea, MuranoFarms! I just did exactly that. I don't actually WANT anybody's easter ducks--they're not likely to be a breed I care about, and they'll be messy and take up room I want for my breeding birds but--I think it's a good service to offer, and I'll just find the little buggers good new homes, so I probably won't have them for long. Which is something I don't understand--don't these people know they can sell the ducks to someone who wants them? Why just take them to a park and dump them? Baffles me.

how does that women sleep at night! next it will be her dog she has had for 13 years her excuse "cause it got old" People like that make me sick!

I found easter drop offs on my front porch. they must have seen the half finished chicken coop in the back yard. my first time with chickens, now i've added 5 new chicks and 2 ducklings, no idea how old or what kind, but i'll raise them. i'm here to learn anything i can about ducks. i researched the chicks, not ducks, i have alot to learn

posting on craigslist is a great idea! i am going to post today. I can't keep em but i am sure i can find them a good home and well i suppose if we have to keep em....lol. i keep everything lol. we have a turkey for thanksgiving but everyone is sure i am not going to be able to eat her. They might be right. we will have to wait and see. i know i cant kill her. i am not ready for that. If i detatch and take her to the butcher it might be okay. i dont know she is my first meat bird that i am raising myself. i have a few meat chicks too and i am becoming attatched. Soon i may well be over ran with ducks and geese too. wish i lived in the country i would start a easter rescue!
