So my fertility test turned ‘let’s let 4 eggs hatch to make sure the incubator is working’ idea is on day 15, 3 eggs pipped and two twitching significantly (including the non pipped egg). Just curious if shaking eggs is significant or not. This is my first hatch of non shipped eggs. Of my previous 30 plus incubated eggs I only remember seeing a little twitching out of the corner of my eye and not sure it wasn’t shadows or the curved plastic lid distortion, nothing jump around like this. Is it just fresh eggs make spunkier chicks? I’m not watching these excessively either, maybe it is a case of a watched pot never twitches? Weird!

Three hatched this morning (all the same male) including my jumpy celadon egg. That egg was fairly small and the chick was backwards, no wonder he was hopping around! He was completely zipped but the membrane wasn’t ripping so he could hatch. I did rip the membrane a bit after over 3 hours of no progress so he could finally hatch.
