one of the eggs has a small area were looks like beak came through.
Its been 3 hrs and no more progress and I havent heard any noise yet.
I am excited that something happened.
I figured once it started to break out there would be noise and more action.

excited and had to share

Just leave them alone and let them come on out in their own time. I know that's the hard part, and you may lose chicks, but you can't help them. Keep listening for those peeps.

They get through that shell and that lets the oxygen in. Then they can rest up and absorb more yolk so that they can zip.

Don't open the bator.

Congrats on the hatch.

It can take 24 hours and longer from the pipping of an egg til the chick makes it way out of the shell. Patience!!

I find the first one always seems to take the longest to get out. Once there are chicks in there, they peep and hurry the others along. Patience is the hardest thing at this point. But just wait for it to start zipping.

Congrats on your pip. May there be more soon!

Thanks
I so want to move a piece of shell so i can see. I read earlier it was bad to help them, so I wasnt going to touch.
Son was excited also, he bought dozen eggs from another farmer so hed have his own different chickens and this is one of his.
I know when they start peeping he will freak out

thanks again

Wanted to thank everyone again.
have 3 eggs hatching and several more moving. Also peeping has started.
this is cool
thanks again

You can whistle to them. That simulates the hen clucking to them and that may speed them along.

My two year old grandson kept checking the bator saying "here chick chick!" It was so cute! Then he would run to the brooder pen saying it or tell me "chick chick night night" or poo-pooping! He is being potty trained so anything that potties facinates him! I love letting him be apart of the chicken raising experience!
I found if I lightly tapped on the window it increased their motivation to get out! Good Luck on your hatch!
