I have 2 silkies that are about 10 weeks old. One of them started silent crowing if there is such thing. It looks like it is crowing but there is no sound. And it has no problem chirping away with 2nd silkie. I kind of figured at least one of them, if not both, would be a roo. So is this a definite sign of roo or still chance of it being a hen?

I have seen the silent crow. Generally they have a mild respiratory issue going on. If it's a true crow it's a rooster. Pullets don't crow.

Uh oh, what kind of respiratory issue? Do I need to put it on a special diet? Should I get some kind of medicine for it?

My few experiences with the silent crow was it ran it's course in a few weeks and they than found their voice again. As long as it's not something more severe I wouldn't worry about it too much.

A silent crow at 10 weeks seems fairly normal since the bird would be just learning. I've seen it before. Also, hens do sometimes crow, oddly enough, but it's very unusual, especially if there's a roo around.
