I have been suspecting my sultans (hatchery quality) of being roosters for a while based on their behavior but now I'm really starting to wonder about them. They are about two years and half old and though I've never heard or seen either crow I do see them stand off in typical rooster fashion frequently. To top it all off, when I was making eggs just now one of my eggs were fertilized! Yes, I know it was fertilized. It had the very distinct bulls-eye in it instead of the plain white disk that the other in the pan had. The thing is, other than these suspected roos, I have no other roosters since I dispatched my last one last summer for crowing at three in the morning. So, here is my question, has anyone ever been lucky enough to have a silent rooster?

I have a Rhode Island Red rooster thats not crowed in about 3 months. Mine is a little less than 2 years old. He used to crow but for some reason hes just stopped crowing. He stills mounts the hens, calls them to food and sounds his alarm calls but not a crow. Bad part is I like hearing a rooster crow so I do miss his crowing.

Well, I have renters so a crowing rooster in the middle of the night (like my last one would) isn't ideal. But if I have a silent rooster, those are some genes that I want to pass down.
