Just have a few more questions about silkies, I am currently incubating 16 bantam silkie eggs. My last three attempts all failed for various reasons, one power cut, one was infertile eggs and the other was poor delivery, very mixed up eggs.

I am in the UK since apparently Silkie bantams are different in UK Vs US?

I am planning to lockdown day 18, is this correct?

I have made a roost (easily removable), but now read that silkies prefer to not use roosts?

How high can they jump?

Are the males loud? How about females?

Are they as cuddly as they look??

Many thanks!

My Silkies roost about 18 inches off the ground. They are ok with being held, but they are birds not cuddly kittens. The roosters crow as loud as most chickens. The hens make typical hen noises.

Not far, they need low to the ground roosts.
They can be as loud as any other chicken.
Cuddliness is up to the individual bird, and most birds aren't cuddly.

I have yet to have a cuddly silkie. Stupid one? Yes. Fluffy one? Yes. Cuddly? Ha, I wish
Thank you for your responses so far! So a roost is okay so long as it is low and they're a normal volume, perfect!

The cuddly bit was meant to be sarcastic, perhaps I should've indicated that a bit better haha 😂 sorry!
