So it’s been determined that my Buff Sebright Bantam (Rural Kings breed determination) is actually a Silkie. That’s fine with us, we just wanted one of our chickens to be small for our 7 year old. Well everything I have read on Silkies say how friendly & loving they are. That they love to be held & crave attention....we obviously got one that is the total opposite. She hates to be held, runs away when you try to pick her up & screams when you do pick her up. Anyone else have a Silkie like this??? And would it be from bad breeding? We have tried to love on her like the others but she isn’t having any of it, lol.

Most chickens don't like being held. They are prey animals. Being grabbed and held can be terrifying, especially to young birds. Many people have birds that like to sit on them, and get scratched. Hopefully one will help out.

I have a silkie hen that I thought might be a rooster until she started laying because she was so bold and bossy. She's a chatty little thing and would even come at you like a rooster and attempt to flog you. She's not really friendly. I would say she's sassy! They all have their own personality.
Also she maybe at the bottom of the pecking order and behaving as such.

She is definitely bossy & she will chase the other chickens and breast bump them, lol. I honestly haven’t noticed any of my other 7 girls picking on her, she does the picking and gets scolded occasionally by the biggest girl to back off. She is more then welcome to just do as she wants, I was just confused with all I read about them & how opposite she is from the descriptions. Thank you for your help 😊
