Silkie Behavior

I have (2) 4-week-old Silkies that chest bump all day long. Is this a sign they are cockerels?

It could be a sign that they are cockerels. They only way to know for sure though, is to post pictures of them in a few weeks.

they will get streamers around 7 weeks usually, right?

Yep, they'll probably get them around that time. Maybe a little later.

I still don't have streamers on my silkies,(9/12 weeks) but one of them has big red comb and wattles and is crowing at 12 weeks. The pace of development seems really variable depending on bloodline and quality(mine are backyard hatchery quality, probably somewhat inbred ahaha).

It really does seem to vary!! Mine seem a little inbred too

If they are the same hatch date, make certain the two smaller ones are getting to eat. That size difference to me is A Lot!

Streamers, while a good clue, don’t always mean cockerel. I’ve seen some cases where hens have sprouted streamers so just keep an open mind lol.
