I purchased three silkies from a neighbor about 5 weeks ago and was wondering if they are pullets. I know they are slow to sex but the black one is the youngest of the three and I’m questioning if it could be a boy. Any guesses? It’s my first time with this breed.

what I said was just a guess I have been wrong before I had a silkie I was sure was a rooster but then "he" went broody so now I am 75% sure it is a hen. but how I can tell with the white ones is (this way is not always correct) roosters crests are like messier and the hens are normally neater the black silkie I can't really tell since it has like no crest and not that many feathers

It's honestly way to early to tell, but number 2 has an injured beak. Do you know what happened? Depending on what it looks like in real life, I might restrict that one to wet crumbles in a deep dish for a week or two. The others won't mind that either! I'd also put vitamins in their water every other day for a couple of weeks. We use Poultry Cell mostly.

The gray is your only Cockerel I can see.

Don’t worry! I think it’s just stained 😉 before I took the pictures for the post, I gave them some raspberries which they all went crazy for. I’ll double check though in case. thanks 😁
