Sooo my silkie went broody a week ago. She’s a proven mama and a good broody. So I’m allowing it. We are in Pennsylvania and the weather is still really cold at night around 30 degrees
Only problem is our extra coop is under renovations and that is where I usually put my broody hens to hatch and raise their babies till they wean.
It will be ready in a couple weeks but not in time for the hatch. She’s currently in with my other hens in the common coop. (Not large enough to section off )
Looking to move her somewhere till chicks hatch.
Two options
1. Large Dog crate inside garage (no heat but not drafty)
2. Rabbit hutch on patio that has roof and bottom lined with wood and a small hut inside (where I could put the eggs)
I did fix tarp around all of it except front
Including picture of rabbit hitch option as this is what I’d like to use but not sure if she’ll be to cold.
