What can I do to help this little chick? One leg seem to want to go out , I think I've heard of this before.I'm not supposed to open the bator, how long can this little one wait for help? What should I do to help it?
Also, when you move your chick out of the bator, make sure to keep it on something grippy. For chicks with splayed legs, you can use an old washcloth or something grippy like that for the first couple days.
I'd open it quickly and get the chick out. The sooner you can help splayed eggs the better. People use a bandaid to splint the legs, but I've never done it. Wrap it carefully around one leg, then wrap it around the other so that it holds the legs in proper position and they can't do the splits.
There are posts on here with pictures, I think. Search for it, and you'll get all the info you need. Good luck!
