Silkie chickens.

Hi. I have 3 silkies. They are bout 9 or 10 weeks old. I live in Nevada. Wondering if it's okay to leave them in there coop now? Any one know? It's bout 75-72 % in day now 40% at night.

At 9 or 10 weeks they should be plenty old enough to handle 40 degrees. Make sure there is plenty of bedding to snuggle down into. Whether adults or chicks - I would always make sure that there is a gradual change in temps, at least if what they are used to and what they are going to is a big difference. But if they're used to the 60s at night and will be in the 40s at night, they should do okay, as a 20 degree change isn't extreme.

Thank you. I got plenty pine shavings and in their coop, I have a drop light on should I leave that on all night or turn it off? Thanks

Yeah same, I have very SILKY chickens. Their fur is so nice and smooth and shiny, sometimes I even cry lol.
Mine are 55 years old, what about yours?

At their age, I really do think they'd do fine without the drop light if it's only falling into the 40s at night. If you use the drop light due to being fearful about them getting too cold, then I'd have a very low wattage bulb in it, like maybe 50 or 60 watts (you can find those in the reptile sections of pet stores - the red bulbs so it doesn't disturb their sleep).
