Silkie Cold Tolerance

its not true i live in canada and my silkies do fine my friend has silkies and hers does fine and i know a breeder who has been raising silkies and breeding them for 15-20 years so they can handle the cold some depends where you live though

I live in the Catskills in New York, so if they do well in Canada, they should be good here then. Thanks!

no problem ... any other questions on silkies ?? or is that it .. i have 4 my self 1 buff rooster 1 blue hen 1 black hen and 1 grey rooster they are all so pretty and i love silkies in general

yeah people say a lot of things saying these breeds or any breeds don't do well in different weathers like cold hot or both climates ... but its not true people also say turkens are not good in the cold but my friends turkens do fine .. so don't always listen to some people or what you read its not always true

Do you have any silkie roosters? I'm almost certain that my little chick is a cockerel. I know that all chickens are different, but I've also heard that silkies are very friendly in general and I'm hoping that also applies to the roosters, not just the hens. I've had a bad experience with a Brahma rooster, and apparently they're supposed to be friendly too, but he's just an ***.

I once had a White Silkie rooster, he was the sweetest rooster in the world! Their crow isn't very loud, but a little squeaky.

i have 2 silkie roosters ... my first silkies grey roo and black hen .. my roo is really nice hes my baby and the hen doesn't like people at all ... my grey roos crow is deep and loud and then the other rooster buff roo is really annoying
