Silkie Colors

I have just ordered some assorted silkies, this may be overkill but when they mature should I separate them by color so that certain colors will not breed with other colors???

If you want to keep the colors pure, then yes. If you want surprise colors, let them run together. You can run the Blacks, Blues, and Splash together with no problems as you will get those colors from those combinations. I am in the process now of seperating mine after culling off some of the lesser quality birds. Whites only, BBS together, and Partridge only. I may break down the Partridge pen further, seperating the Blue Partridge from the regular Partridge too, but that is farther down the line.
