I have three silkies whom are about 6 weeks old. Two of them are white, and they have entirely different looking combs. One is black, and the other is red... Does that mean anything? I'm clueless. Thanks!

red really isn't a color you want to see in a Silkie comb

Does it mean anything though? We're not showing them........ Thanks!

It is something you don't want to breed as it will pass on to offspring. If it is JUST a pet, no don't worry about it. Sort of like having a Black Lab dog with a big white spot on the chest, still makes a good pet, but you don't want to breed more & try to show at Westminster with it. Have fun with your birds.

Chances are, if you're seeing a red comb at 6 weeks, it's a cockerel.

If you look at the skin of the silkie with the red comb, you will likely find that it is considerably lighter in colour than the one with the dark comb. The wingpit is a good place to check this.
