Would you breed a silkie with a single comb if it was from good lines and you had no other? What would the chances be of getting a regular comb if you breed it to a good combed silkie? Thanks

Since single combs are recessive, as long as the bird with the walnut comb isn't carrying the genes fro a single comb, all the offspring should have walnut combs, but they will all be carrying the gene for single comb. If the bird with the walnut comb is carrying the gene for a single comb, 50% of the offspring will have single combs and 50% will have walnut combs, and be carrying the gene for single comb. It's not a good trait to have in a line, and won't show up in all your birds, but it will pretty much always be in your line.

Check out my comb genetics page. There's a link in my signature.
