Silkie Coop Starting Next Week - Questions on size

Ok, my quail aviary is almost done! So now I am onto project number two. Boy it is so much fun having someone who knows how to build around! LOL

So I have a small area next to an extremely large pony pen I am going to use. I plan on dividing the pony pen in a third and that will make this silkie house's run 10 X 16. So for the house I am limited in space because of a building, a propane tank and a couple of trees. I am looking at a max of 8 X 6 for the coop. My question is will that be big enough for a dozen or less silkies? I can imagine it would be more than enough for about 5 or 6 LF.

Yes. I have a 7 by 8 and I have 13 chickens and 2 guineas in it. With the added run they will have plenty of room. Also it will work be cause the silkies are small like bantams. They might even be bantamss. I am not sure. lol. It would work fine.


???? How tall is the coop going to be? I fit is going to hold that many silkies you need to be able to go into the coop to clean/ collect eggs.

You will be fine with your plans. Pleass post some pics when you build it. Sounds very interesting.
