Silkie Cross, questions?

Okay so im looking into getting a couple Duccle/silkie crosses to hopefully use as broodys. Two questions, how soon can you have a general idea of their gender, and is it possible for this cross to have silkie feathers?

if it's a first generation (F1) the feathers will not be silkie. I would guess you could begin to tell gender at four or five months usually.
