Silkie egg?

I only have 1 silkie and shes maybe 8-9 months I dont really know and well is this her first egg? Its smaller than the rest but my standard size birds sometimes lay a usually small egg but I have a feeling and idk. I'm going to be keeping an eye on her tomrrow

To know for sure, feel her pelvic bones. If you can feet 2 fingers comfortably between them, she's laying. If you need help as to where the pelvic bones are and how to feel them, let me know and I'll explain.

Agree with above awesome advice! Beat me to the punch. Likely this is one of your other chickens it’s only slightly smaller than the other ones. Here is a photo of a Silkie egg next to a regular sized egg for reference. Don’t mind the markings on the end it was a hatching egg.

Yea mine kind of looks like a regular size egg when next to them. Remind umyou there all young so. I'm guessing she will be laying next spring.

If you can pick her up, then hold one side of her to your chest which holds down the wing to reduce flapping, and with the other arm feel for the pelvic bones which are under the vent (butthole). They aren't hard to find, and once you do see how many fingers can fit in the space between them. Let me know if this helps, or further details are needed.

Well you never know! Some silkies lay as early as 22 weeks, most between 7-9 months and some over a year!

my silkie lays eggs just like that. They also have a shiny gloss to them that none of my other breed hens make.

There was wet poop on it but I wouldnt count that as a gloss
