I have a silkie hen whose legs don't seem to be working properly. She kind of sits on her hocks and fumbles around. She's not moving around much but when she does she doesnt have a whole lot of control. Her and her sisters have been broody for the last week or so and whenever they are broody I annoy them by pulling them off nests for food and water breaks. I spent a day away from home I didn't get to bother them for most of that day and the next morning when I pulled her off the nest I noticed she was wobbly and drank quite a bit of water. This sparked concern so I brought her inside and have been monitoring and nursing her for the last 2 days. She is bug free and is still eating and drinking so my immediate thought went to vitamin deficiency. I have poultry cell in her water along with liquid vitamin B and recovery 911. I have given her scrambled egg and raw egg yolk. Hand giving her vitamin E as well. She's nibbling the eggs well but when I don't see her drink for a while I dropper water on her beak to make sure she gets some vitamin. I am semi seasoned with silkies as I have been keeping them for about 3 yrs and have overcome quite a few hurltes with a few different birds but I have not been dealt this card before. Is there anything else I should be doing or looking out for? Thanks in advance to everyone offering advice I appreciate it. I just want to help my girl get through this

Be sure to give some wet and dry balanced chicken feed for vitamins and minerals along with a small bit of egg and the vitamins. Human super B complex tablets, around $9 at Walmart, can be crushed and given in food or whole orally 1/4 tablet daily. They have all B vitamins including riboflavin/B2. Silkies tend to go broody a lot, and I usually broke them immediately in a broody crate or pen to prevent becoming weak and sick. Check her for any scaly leg mites (crusty raised scales) and mites or lice on her body that could weaken her more.

Thank you I have some dry feed available for her I will try some wet as well. She's got liquid vitamin B in her water I will try to get more of that into her. I have looked all over for mites, legs and body I don't see anything. She is missing from feathers from being broody as well as being mated. My girls so broody a lot and I always pluck them on thr nests several times a day to try and break them. Since she's in my bathroom she's still making a broody noise I think she's trying to stay broody but is coming out of it so it's been difficult to work with her. Thank you for you response and advice I appreciate it!

Although because I've never really seen feather loss on the chin and front and back neck depluming mites did cross my mind before she got sick. Shes been off and on broody. This most recent broodyness few went broody before her so she was one that was out and about more taking more of a hit with mating. Some feathers have regrown but I thought the loss was a little questionable considering placement a little high for broody plucking? And I don't see anything else like this on anyone else so I assumed it was from broodyness and over mating. Thinking maybe I should treat her with elector psp just to be safe?

She looks like someone else is plucking her feathers especially on the back of her neck, and in the front of her neck. They can start molting this time of year, but it could be both. I don’t treat for mites or lice without evidence of them on the bodies, and you can also check at night in the dark.
