It's very hard to tell with silkies. I had to wait until mine laid an egg to be sure. I wish i could help!

How old? could you get a side shot of the head as well? red coming into the comb would make me suspicious of it being male, but you can't go off that alone.

it's not my bird, it a friends who is needing to re-home it and i can only take hens hence why i was wondering. but i will try and get that info and another picture, because i would love to know.

That mohawk looks like a male but its hard to tell for sure.
