I have a almost year old silkie hen with what looks like bumble foot. I am wondering what I should do to try and cure it. Right now I am soaking it in Epson salt water.

that looks like an infected toe not bumblefoot.

Also no scales. Have they recently had scaly leg mites?

I am battling this and the scales fall off leaving the soft skin behind as you start to get on top of it. Looks like scaly leg mite crud has got stuck in the toe/claw area and caused a little infection.

Soaking in Epsom salts is a good step. You need to get the crud off, trim the claws and apply some antibiotic cream.

Ok I will do that.

Ok then this is the aftermath. Keep soaking, 15 mins at least if you can. Brush with a soft toothbrush to remove that crud, or use your fingers gently. Go easy as they look really sore. The skin underneath can't heal until it is freed.

Scaly leg mites are the pits with silkies. My poor rooster has been suffering on and off for ages.

Can you use polysporn on chickens?
