Silkie hen with swollen eye

Two days ago I found my silkie hen with her eye swollen. It’s is closed and I see that she is rubbing her eye on her feathers which has caused them to matte. I tried as much as I could to put a warm compress on it but it is not helping. She is not coughing nor wheezing and is still very active and walking around and drinking fine. This is the first time I’ve had anything like this happen.

You need to try to gently open it to see if there is debris or buildup inside that needs to be cleaned out

I agree that I would look for anything in the eye, then flush it with either saline or an eye wash such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief twice a day. You can then apply some Terramycin eye ointment if needed. Eye drainage or bubbles in the eye can be a sign of a respiratory disease.
