Long story short it looks like I will be keeping some silkies due to mounting peer pressure from my daughter and nephews who hatched some neighbor’s bantie and silkie eggs. I'm a sucker for those sad little faces.
My main concern is integration with current flock and will my coop set up work for silkies.
I have 8 older hens in the main coop that all chickens will be in during the winter. There are also 5 mixed breeds regular size with 4 banty Cornish 6 week olds that we hatched this year in a different coop for now until they get older. Then there is the 3 new silkies who are only a few days old. Who will have to get their own set up until they are older.
Will introducing 3 silkies around 16-18 weeks be a problem other than normal chicken introducing issues/pecking order stuff?
Do silks roost or sleep on the floor?
My nest boxes are off the ground by 16 inches. Will I have to create a ramps for the silkies to get in the nest boxes?
Thanks for the help
