Silkie Laying Question

I have recently gotten a blue silky hen. She has a chick with her that is approximately one week old. Today I found an egg in her nest with the chick and I'm wondering about laying habits of silkies. I know they are very broody and not great layers, but is it surprising that she would be laying again while she still has her chick? Does this mean she is about finished taking care of him/her? Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably between 1 to 2 weeks old.

My Silkie did the same thing. She hatched her clutch, and within 10 days was laying eggs again. I took the chicks from her, because I thought she just ignored them.
