These two hatched on June 6. Daddy to both is assumed to be my white silkie (Tractor Supply quality) The white one’s mama is a white silkie, the brown one is probably from my production red hen.

I have a bad feeling that these are both boys. I know silkies are hard, but I feel like there’s too much tail growth already, & I feel like the brown one’s coloring is too “loud” to be a hen.

Any guesses?

Brown one is likely female if you are sure mom is red sex link (yellow legs/skin). White one is WAY too early to tell.
What makes you think they are boys?
Tail growth is meaningless at this age. Only means something when saddle feathers come in after 12 weeks of age.😊

Last time I had a broody hen hatch a pair of chicks, they were both boys. I just figure I’ll have the same bad luck again!

I’m not positive on the hen the brown one came from, but the options are Production Red, Dominique or Delaware. I just assume it’s from the red hen because it’s brown. The chick ended up with interesting coloring, though. The legs are like an olive green.

This is the one I’m pretty sure is Mama to the brown chick, as she’s my only red hen.

And this is Daddy.
