Have any of you crossed Silkies with other breeds? If so how many generations does it take for the black skin to go away? How hard it is to keep the black skin? or how hard is it to loose it?

thanks.... Im conguring up my next project...

Ah, we must think alike! I have my chickens all together right now, and have many different breeds. I had a Silkie mutt hatch out and she/he has dark skin but 4 toes. Don't know yet who daddy is, or mommy for that matter! So anyway, 1st generation that I've noted so far is still dark skinned. I made a breeding pen last night, but the Silkies decided they didn't like it.

The project I've decided to focus on involves Turkens, Polish, and Cochins. I don't know what'll happen, but I'll find out! Plus, one of my Turkens is a Frizzle roo! My husband thinks I'm like a mad scientist.

ha ha.. mad scientist.. Im picturing these weird silkie hybrids coming from Frankensteins castle

My neighbor crossed my barred silkie (cuckoo) with my partridge rooster ( she baby sat all summer for me) and the result was one of the most gorgeous Crelo Roos I have ever seen in my life. His color was absolutely breath taking. I wanted to try this again and see if I could get the same bird in silkie. I also have another project but.. Its not even started. Im in the research faze.
