silkie questions

So this spring I am planning On buying some silkies (about 5 because they are straight run).
I was wondering if they actually go broody as much as everyone says they do. Because I have A really pretty Buff orp roo that I want to hatch some eggs from.
I was also wondering if it would go smoothly integrating 5 silkies along with 8 other birds into a flock of 14 with a rooster? I am asking Because they are a smaller breed and they look different.

My first group of silkies were not that broody... only one of them was. But I added 3 more 1 hen and 2 roos and the hen is crazy broody if there is more than 4 eggs in the nest.

My silkies go VERY broody and physically drag the eggs to their brood as they are layed

Yep. Mine were all broody multiple times before the age of 1 year. I had some standard size birds living with my silkies but I kept having injured birds. I would recommend a separate coop.

2x AlleysChicks about keeping the Silkies separate from the LFs. Learned that Silkies have a "soft"spot on the top of their heads, favorite spot for pecking. Have read some do keep the LF/Silkies together with no issues. You could try with the "see by no touch" integration but be prepared to keep them separate.
