Hi all, I have a question on silkie roos. A lady told me if I have more than 1 silkie roo that they will not fight like a normal breed. I have never had silkies before but I do believe she is pulling my leg as I have 2 definate roos now and possibly 3 that are about 10 weeks old and they give each other a good thumping once and a while along with the girls in with them. I still have these guys in the house in a brooder in my livingroom(my husband says I have separation anxiety with these guys)

I too am new to Silkies. I can tell you that I had 2 RIR roos together for a few years and they did fine. They were raised together and did have skirmishes - but never drew blood. I think it depends on each personality of each of the chickens. I also think it is just normal for them to constantly test each other to see if they can have a shot at being head roo (or head hen if roos are not around).

I hope a Silkie eggspert chimes in for you! I'd like to know the answer too since I would love to get more silkies next year!

I am not an expert but I have 4 silkie roos together 13 weeks old-they do chest bump from time to time but they've been good together!

Silkie roos are not as bad as other rooster, but they will fight. If they are raised together they will be ok for the most part, but they will still fight until they know who's girls are who's. I have 3 roos and 8 hens together and they are all fine. Silkies are not as mean as some other roosters can be. Hope this helps..
