Silkie Rooster with single comb

I love my two silkies! I’m brooding another and can’t wait to tell if it’s a hen or a roo. I’ve been diving into learning more about the breed. I’m curious about silkie combs. Knowing the a walnut comb is the standard, I’ve read that a silkie with a single comb is a mixed breed. I’ve also read the silkies can carry the allele for a single comb (recessive). So which is it? I have a rooster with a VERY large single comb. I got him at TSC so who knows. Either way, I love my Nugget! He’s a good boy.

He may not be mixed, atleast not in recent generation but poorly bred. I bet he's a good boy though.
