I'm considering making my silkies their own area, where they can still see the rest of the flock but not be amongst them. Come spring I'm hoping to have my hens hatch out and this seems like it will be the best method for that as my large fowl hens can be bit testy and I'd be nervous for the chicks. Also because I worry about them free ranging at times due to their inability to fly and see super well. Anyway, I am brain storming here and would like ideas for a set up. How large of a run and coop would be good for three hens and a rooster (at times) ? The rooster will likely be in with the silkie girls at times. With the large girls other times. He likes both. But he's the one I would like them to hatch chicks from this year. So we would also have to have occasional room for him.
