Why does it seem like my silkie has a single comb? Is this normal?

I wonder whySingle comb birds appear somewhat frequently in hatchery bred birds.
I was questioning that also. I have 2 that have combs like this. Not that I mind, theyrejust pets for my kids but I had never seen a silkie with a single combI would question him being a pure breed with the single comb.
Thank you! That's interesting. Is it possible for 2 parents with walnut combs to produce single comb offspring? Just curious.Single combs are a recessive gene. It probably doesn’t have mixed ancestry, but it certainly doesn’t meet the American Standard of Perfection. The original Silkies had a variety of comb types before the breed was refined.
