Bought some eBay eggs. 4 of 12 made it to lockdown. 1 died already. 3 are alive. 1 of 2 still partially kicking out has 6 toes. All 4 chicks pipped wrong end and had to be assisted via the learning byc page.

Is this a crap breeder who is over breeding and inbreeding? Or is a deformity common?

If you didn't maintain a stable temp and humidity in your incubator, chicks usually hatch with deformities. The more experience you have with an incubator, the less deforms you will have. The most common deformity IS having an extra tow or two.

I had digital temp control and I used dry hatch method,so I'd have to say it stayed pretty regular. Lower than normal hatch makes me say genetics. On the bright side it seems common after researching it.

Is it inbreeding or just a random genetic fault that causes 6 vs 5?
